The artist was inspired by the animal Poon Pan design. Poon Pan is made from a white clay rich in alumina mixed with send and heavy sugar cane syrup. The mixture is boiled and used to mold various pictures on the gable of the church. The design inspired me was made by the ancient artist in Chiang Mai, a province in the north of Thailand. I changed the design from the original one to the design of the animal on fretwork, according to my interest and skill. The design on four corners are completely different, I added the crest on the lion's head, added black colour with red colour in the middle so that the gold leaf's colour will be stood out. This picture is called "Marukaracha" which means king of animals. |
