According to Professor Silp Peerasri, quoted partly from the printed program of the 9th National Art Exhibition,
"Art is like religion. It upgrades human being' minds, and refines their spirits and hearts with its sentimental work." Therefore, art is vital for us. It can be compared to the breath of civilized people.

The Silom Galleria Art Space is proud to present the Contemporary vernacular designer inspired by the environment, under the "Osisu Trashy Design" Exhibition. Better known for the brand Osisu, Professor Singha Intrachooto Ph.D., Design Principal was in charge of managing the design aspects.

Born from Dr. Singha's detail-oriented inclination and extensive research, one can categorize the exhibited artworks under an altogether different branch of contemporary are. Great emphases were placed on theories and innovations that in turn allowed him to create designs that can be used to care for the environment. As it is Dr. Singha's expertise, each work, including designs of buildings, interior space and furniture, was put through a screening process and intentionally made from excess materials discarded at construction sites. However, the main materials the designer uses are leftover materials from factories and everyday life. The underlying issue presented within each design is society's responsibility and the reality of our very often overlooked environment.

The main concept of Dr. Singha's "Osisu Trashy Design" is How to design his work his furniture from Trash.

British Council, Noble Development, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Bangkok Design Festival welcome you to the official press conference of “Transforming public spaces”, the follow up project to ”Re-imagining the city” with a talk by Jason Bruges, lighting designer from the UK.

Transforming Public Spaces seeks engagement from the public to ‘name and shame’ buildings, streets and other spaces which are ugly or simply don’t work. Through a competition, people are invited to name such places, with a photo, via the website www.changebangkok.com. There will be an exhibition and the ‘winner’ will be the subject of a collaborative ‘intervention’ by Jason Bruges with local creatives. Together they will look at how that space might be transformed, temporarily or permanently. The transformation will take place during Bangkok Design Festival in October 2008.
