This room is for anyone who is interested in learning Thai art and wants to study it on his/her own. I want to make this corner a classroom for Fundamental Thai Designs on internet. Lessons range from the beginners' levels to the levels that enable all of you to draw and understand basic Thai designs. Lessons will be easy to understand and practical to learn.

Materials Required
1. 2B or HB pencil
2. White Paper
3. Eraser, Ruler
4. Compasses

The Origin of Thai Designs

Thai designs are derived from nature, from animals and plants. The forms of Thai designhad been passed down from Dvaravadee, Sukhothai and reached its peak in Ayudhaya period. Itwas in Ayudhaya period that Thai designs shone brightly and really found their place in Thai identity. Artists in that period were inspinstired by the observation of plants, animals, beliefs related to Buddhism and Hinduism.The designs which are derived from plants are, for example,design of sugarcane'bud, design of Thai water plant'flower. Examples of designs derived from animals are design of the legs of "Singha", the animal memtioned in Thai literature, design of claws of crab.
